A three-storey building at Manhyia South in Kumasi, just a few metres from the Manhyia Palace and near the Manhyia Government Hospital, has been hit by fire.
The fire started at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, causing panic among residents and people passing by the area.
Thick smoke and flames were seen coming from parts of the building as people rushed to safety.
The top floor was badly damaged, with more than 10 rooms reportedly destroyed by the fire.
Some of the affected people were seen quickly moving their belongings and goods out of the building as firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby properties.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The full extent of the damage is also yet to be determined as firefighters and officials continue their work at the scene.
