Nominations for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional executive elections have officially ended, with 35 party members successfully picking and submitting nomination forms to contest various positions.
Kwaku Atta Sarpong, a member of the Ashanti Regional NPP Elections Committee, said the nomination process began on Wednesday, July 15, and closed on Friday, July 17, 2026.
He disclosed that 28 men and seven women have entered the race.
According to the committee, two aspirants will contest the position of Regional Chairman.
Four candidates are seeking election as First Vice Chairman, while three are competing for the Second Vice Chairman role.
For the secretary positions, three aspirants are contesting for Regional Secretary, with four others vying for Deputy Secretary.
Three candidates have also entered the race for Regional Treasurer.
In the organiser category, three aspirants are contesting for Regional Organiser.
Four candidates have filed nominations for Youth Organiser, while another four are seeking the position of Nasara Organiser.
The Women’s Organiser position will be contested by three female aspirants, while two candidates are in the race for Communications Officer.
Mr Atta Sarpong said the next stage of the process will be the vetting of all aspirants, which is expected to take place on Monday or Tuesday, subject to the committee’s approval.
The NPP is scheduled to hold its Ashanti Regional executive elections on August 16, 2026.
