Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced the full restoration of all power generation units following the recent fire outbreak at the Akosombo Dam substation.
According to the Minister, the successful restoration marks a major step in stabilising the national power supply after the incident caused widespread outages across parts of the country.
The fire, which affected the operations of the Ghana Grid Company, disrupted electricity transmission and led to a significant drop in power generation capacity.
At the peak of the disruption, several areas experienced intermittent power supply as engineers worked to contain the situation.
Jinapor commended engineers and technical teams for their swift response and dedication, noting that they worked tirelessly to ensure the timely restoration of all affected units.
“We have successfully restored all the generation units, and the system is now stable,” he stated, assuring Ghanaians of improved reliability in power supply moving forward.
The restoration process was carried out in phases, with initial efforts focusing on bringing some units back online before achieving full recovery.
Authorities say investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, while measures are expected to be implemented to prevent future occurrences.
With all units now operational, the government is urging the public to remain calm as efforts continue to maintain a stable and efficient power supply nationwide.
