The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Deven Singh, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to a press release from the Police Public Affairs Unit, the suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
The police say they are working to uncover all details surrounding the incident and to identify any other persons involved.
The statement explained that the deceased had earlier been reported missing, which led police to begin a search operation.
On April 25, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., police received information about a vehicle believed to belong to the victim.
The car was found at the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near the Royal Lemesoy Hospital.
A team of officers quickly moved to the scene. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the lifeless body of Deven Singh was discovered in the boot.
Police reported that the body had multiple stab wounds, indicating a violent attack.
The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene for evidence. The body was later transported to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The vehicle has also been impounded to support further investigations.
The Inspector-General of Police has since deployed a special team comprising intelligence officers and homicide investigators to assist the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The aim is to speed up the investigation and ensure that all those involved in the crime are arrested and brought to justice.
