Mavis Hawa Koomson, an aspirant for the position of National Women’s Organiser within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made her way back to her home region to officially announce her candidacy for the role ahead of the party’s National Executives election.
Koomson made an appearance at the NPP’s Central Regional headquarters in Cape Coast, where she was received by 73 women executives and 29 TESCON executives who expressed their commitment to support her, pledging their backing to enable her to lead the party’s women’s division.
“Bless me with your prayers and thumb during the National Executives elections to bring glory to the Central Region and continue the good work,” she told the gathering, appealing to delegates to back her “massively” at the polls.
The former Minister of Fisheries and previous Member of Parliament representing Awutu Senya East has additionally put forward proposed modifications to NPP regulations that would enable all female delegates participating in the National Delegates Conference, rather than merely a limited number, to cast their votes for the National Women’s Organiser.
Drawing upon her extensive experience, Hawa Koomson expressed confidence that she requires no campaign efforts to secure the position.
“Akpeteshie doesn’t advertise itself, and I am like akpeteshie I don’t need any adverts to win the National Women’s Organiser position. My achievements in the NPP will advertise for me,” she said.
She contended that the women’s division requires seasoned, resolute and cohesive grassroots management to reinvigorate trust among party members and prepare the NPP for achievement in the 2028 elections.
Central Regional female executives and TESCON members, under the direction of Regional Women’s Organiser Madam Charlotte Adowa Antwi, publicly affirmed their comprehensive endorsement of her bid.
