Arsenal have completed the signing of England international defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa in a deal worth up to £55 million.
The 28-year-old centre-back has signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional year after completing his medical with the North London club.
The final transfer fee is reported to be £51 million, with another £4 million available in add-ons.
Konsa’s move brings an end to his seven-year spell at Aston Villa, where he became an important member of the first team.
He joined Villa from Brentford in 2019 and made more than 280 appearances for the club before completing his switch to Arsenal.
His arrival is expected to strengthen Arsenal’s defensive options as manager Mikel Arteta deals with injuries within his back line.
William Saliba is facing a lengthy spell out with a back problem, while Jurrien Timber and Ben White have also faced fitness concerns.
Konsa’s versatility is another reason Arsenal were keen to secure his services. Although primarily a central defender, he can also operate at right-back, giving Arteta another option when managing the squad during a demanding season.
The England international has also gained valuable experience at the highest level. He was part of Aston Villa’s successful European campaign and has established himself as a regular option for the England national team.
Arsenal had been looking at several defensive targets before making Konsa their preferred choice. The club eventually reached an agreement with Villa before completing the transfer on Friday, August 21, 2026.
