Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign French defender Axel Disasi on loan ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The 28-year-old centre-back is undergoing his medical at Crystal Palace before the deal can be formally completed.
According to reports, the agreement is for a season-long loan, with Chelsea receiving a loan fee while Palace will cover the defender’s salary during his time at Selhurst Park.
Disasi is expected to strengthen Palace’s defence after the club lost key defenders during the transfer window. Maxence Lacroix moved from Palace to Chelsea, while Marc Guéhi has also left the club, creating a need for an experienced centre-back.
The Frenchman brings considerable Premier League experience to Palace. He joined Chelsea from Monaco in August 2023 on a six-year contract and made 44 appearances during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
However, Disasi has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Chelsea in recent seasons. He spent time on loan at Aston Villa and later joined West Ham United, where he made 14 Premier League appearances during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.
His move to Palace will provide another opportunity for the defender to play regularly in the Premier League and rebuild his career after falling out of favour at Chelsea.
Palace manager Pierre Sage has previously stressed the need for an experienced defender who can provide leadership and bring Premier League experience to his back line.
Disasi fits that profile and could become an important part of the team.
The loan move is also significant for Chelsea as the club continues to reshape its squad under manager Xabi Alonso. Disasi has not been part of Chelsea’s plans for the new campaign, and the move will allow him to gain regular playing time elsewhere.
Once the medical and final paperwork are completed, Disasi will join Palace for the 2026/27 season.
