Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has handed first-time call-ups to Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor for the Black Stars’ upcoming international assignments.
The two players have been included in the squad for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as an international friendly against Morocco.
Gyamerah, a right-back, has been rewarded for his impressive start to the 2026/27 season with German Bundesliga 2 side SV Elversberg.
The defender has made four appearances for the club this season and has continued to establish himself as an important option on the right side of defence.
The 26-year-old has previous experience with several German clubs, having featured for Kaiserslautern, Nürnberg, Hamburger SV and VfL Bochum.
Meanwhile, Ronald Donkor has earned his maiden senior international call-up following a strong run of performances for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.
Donkor started his football career at the JMG Football Academy in Mali before playing for Guidars FC. His performances earned him a move to the New York Red Bulls in May 2023, where he has continued his development.
Gyamerah and Donkor are expected to arrive in Ghana in the coming days to join the rest of the Black Stars squad ahead of the three matches.
Ghana will begin the series of fixtures with an away clash against Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24.
The Black Stars will then return home to host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29, before travelling to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
