The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that nominations for its constituency executive elections will officially open on June 22, 2026, as part of the party’s ongoing nationwide reorganisation exercise aimed at rebuilding its structures ahead of future electoral contests.
The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, where he outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the party’s internal elections from the polling station level through to the national level.
According to Mr. Kodua, the constituency executive elections will follow the completion of polling station and electoral area elections, which have already been scheduled under the party’s electoral calendar.
Providing details of the timetable, he said, “For constituency executive elections, nominations will open and close from June 22 to June 24.
Vetting will take place from June 25 to June 27, while appeals will be received from June 28 to June 30.”
He further explained that notices of poll would subsequently be issued to qualified aspirants before voting takes place.
“Notices of poll will be issued from July 2 to July 5, and elections of constituency officers will be conducted from July 11 to July 12.”
The General Secretary added that the process would not end with the elections, as the party would undertake a validation exercise to update its records and official albums.
“Data entry of the constituency album will follow from July 13 to July 26, 2026.”
Mr. Kodua emphasised that the elections form part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and ensure effective organisation ahead of future political engagements.
Addressing concerns about the credibility of the process, he stressed that the party had put in place mechanisms to guarantee transparency and fairness throughout the exercise.
“In all these activities, the responsible office will be the constituency executive committee and the regional steering committee, with oversight responsibility by the national secretariat.”
Mr. Kodua expressed confidence in the electoral roadmap and encouraged broad participation among party members.
“The outlined processes will ensure transparency, fairness, and broad participation in the party’s internal democratic exercise.”
The constituency elections will be followed by regional and national executive elections later in the year as the party continues its efforts to reorganise and position itself for the 2028 general elections.
