Manchester City have opened negotiations with Brazilian club Palmeiras over a potential transfer for highly rated winger Allan Elias as they look to strengthen their attack following the expected departure of Savinho.
The 22-year-old Brazilian has emerged as one of City’s main targets, with the Premier League champions reportedly viewing him as a possible replacement for Savinho, who is set to join Tottenham Hotspur in a major transfer deal.
Reports indicate that City have already made progress in discussions with Allan’s representatives.
Allan, who can operate on the wing and in midfield, has developed into an important player for Palmeiras since breaking into the first team.
His performances have attracted attention from several European clubs, but Manchester City are currently pushing strongly for his signature.
Palmeiras are understood to be reluctant to lose the player during the current transfer window. Reports from Brazil indicate that the club are seeking a fee of about €40 million, although other reports have pointed to a significantly higher release clause.
Negotiations between the two clubs are therefore expected to be crucial in determining whether a deal can be completed.
The move for Allan is closely linked to City’s plans for Savinho. Tottenham have reportedly agreed a deal worth £75 million for the Brazilian winger, with a further £10 million potentially payable in add-ons.
City is therefore looking to move quickly to fill the position before the transfer window closes.
Allan is understood to be interested in the opportunity to move to England and continue his development at a major European club.
Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira has admitted that he is uncertain about the player’s future amid the growing interest from Manchester City.
The Brazilian has enjoyed an impressive season with Palmeiras, recording six goals and five assists and establishing himself as one of the club’s important attacking players.
