The English Football Association has charged Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa with misconduct following comments he made about refereeing decisions after his side’s match against Manchester United.
The charge relates to remarks made by Arbeloa during his post-match press conference, where he questioned the integrity of several decisions made during the encounter.
Arbeloa expressed frustration over what he considered a series of calls that favoured Manchester United, specifically referring to an incident involving Harry Maguire.
“Every decision benefited United. Just look at Maguire’s foul,” Arbeloa said after the match.
The Fulham manager also suggested that the outcome may have been influenced by events surrounding Manchester United’s previous fixture, saying: “I knew that after the Manchester derby, they wouldn’t want United to lose.”
The FA’s charge means Arbeloa could face disciplinary action over the comments, depending on the outcome of the process.
Arbeloa, who took charge of Fulham this season, will now have the opportunity to respond to the FA’s allegations as the disciplinary process continues.
