Chelsea moves to hijack Inter’s pursuit of Marco Palestra

Chelsea have made a strong move to sign highly-rated Atalanta wing-back Marco Palestra, submitting an official offer as they attempt to beat Inter Milan to the Italian youngster’s signature.

The Premier League club have entered advanced negotiations with Atalanta and is reportedly prepared to offer a transfer fee exceeding €50 million, along with improved personal terms for the player.

The development has significantly changed the direction of a deal that previously appeared to be heading in Inter Milan’s favour.

Inter had been in talks with Atalanta for several weeks and were believed to be close to reaching an agreement worth €45 million plus an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

The Serie A giants had also reportedly agreed on personal terms with Palestra and were confident of completing the transfer.

However, Chelsea’s late intervention has intensified the race for one of Italy’s most promising young talents. The London club are keen to strengthen its squad with young players who fit their long-term project, and Palestra is viewed as a player capable of making an immediate impact while also developing into a key figure for the future.

The 21-year-old has attracted attention across Europe following a series of impressive performances for Atalanta.

Known for his pace, energy and attacking ability from the right flank, Palestra has established himself as one of the most exciting wing-backs in Italian football.

Chelsea’s willingness to offer a higher transfer fee and a more lucrative contract could prove decisive in convincing both Atalanta and the player to choose Stamford Bridge over a move to Inter.

Negotiations are progressing rapidly, with discussions ongoing between all parties involved. While no final agreement has yet been reached, Chelsea is now considered a serious contender in the race for the Italian defender.

Should the move be completed, it would represent another statement signing by Chelsea as they continue to invest heavily in young talent from across Europe.

For Inter, meanwhile, the challenge will be to respond quickly if they hope to regain control of a transfer that once appeared close to completion.
