Asante Kotoko are reportedly closing in on the signing of Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors are said to be in advanced negotiations with the 22-year-old shot-stopper, with both parties working to reach a final agreement.
Mourad currently plays for Moroccan top-flight side Chabab Mohammedia, where he has gained experience in the Botola Pro League.
He made 13 appearances and played 1,170 minutes during the 2024/25 season, establishing himself as a regular option for the club.
The potential move to Ghana would be a major step in the young goalkeeper’s career and would make him one of the few Moroccan players to feature in the Ghana Premier League.
The move comes as the club looks to improve its goalkeeping department ahead of the new campaign. The Kumasi-based side has already made changes in the position, including the return of former goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
Mohammed Camara, another goalkeeper who was with the club, has meanwhile left Kotoko to join Ethiopian side Mechal, creating further room for competition within the goalkeeping department.
Mourad is reportedly valued at around €130,000 and is represented by Mir Sport. His possible arrival would give Kotoko another young goalkeeper with top-flight experience as they prepare for the demands of the upcoming season.
Kotoko are currently rebuilding their squad under head coach Eric Tinkler and are expected to remain active in the transfer market.
