Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Spanish left-back Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano, in a move expected to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season.
The Premier League club has reportedly agreed a deal worth €19 million in fixed fees, with a further €2 million available in add-ons. Chavarría is now set to travel for his medical examination before completing the formalities of his contract signing.
The two clubs are also expected to complete the final paperwork, with official signatures between Chelsea and Rayo Vallecano scheduled as the transfer moves closer to completion.
The 28-year-old defender has been identified as a key target by Chelsea as the club looks to strengthen the left side of its defence. Reports indicate that the Blues have been monitoring Chavarría for some time, with the player emerging as one of Rayo Vallecano’s most consistent performers in recent seasons.
Chavarría joined Rayo Vallecano in 2022 after previously playing for Real Zaragoza and quickly established himself as an important member of the team. His performances in La Liga have attracted attention due to his energy, defensive ability and willingness to contribute in attack.
Chelsea’s interest in the Spanish full-back is also linked to the club’s need for more depth and quality in the left-back position. The move is expected to provide competition and additional options as the team prepares for a demanding campaign.
