Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, have left Accra for Dakar, Senegal, ahead of their important final qualifying round first-leg match in the race for a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The team departed from the Accra International Airport on Tuesday aboard an ASKY Airlines flight. The delegation includes a 24-player squad, technical staff, and team officials, all heading to Senegal with hopes of securing a strong result in the away fixture.
The Black Maidens have had a solid qualifying campaign so far, and they are now just two matches away from securing a spot at the global tournament.
Their performances in earlier rounds have boosted confidence within the camp as they approach this decisive stage of qualification.
In recent weeks, the team has stepped up preparations under the guidance of the technical team. Training sessions have focused on tactical organisation, fitness, and match readiness as the coaches work to fine-tune the squad for the challenges ahead.
Officials say the players are in good condition and fully focused on achieving a positive result in Dakar, which would place them in a strong position ahead of the second leg.
The squad is expected to arrive in Dakar later in the day and will begin final preparations before the match.
Victory over the two-legged tie will secure qualification for the Black Maidens, continuing Ghana’s strong tradition in women’s youth football on the international stage.
