AshantiGold earn first Super Cup point after Semper Fi draw

FC AshantiGold have earned their first point in the 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup after playing out a goalless draw against Semper Fi in Group B at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

The two teams approached the game cautiously, with neither side willing to take unnecessary risks during the opening stages. Clear opportunities were limited as both defences remained organised.

The match became more open after the break, with AshantiGold and Semper Fi creating several chances as they pushed for the winning goal.

Semper Fi goalkeeper Godwin Agboso played a key role in keeping the score level. He produced a number of important saves to deny AshantiGold and preserve his side’s clean sheet.

AshantiGold also relied on their goalkeeper, Fatau Seidu, who came on in the first half after Bismark Baffour was forced to leave the game.

Seidu responded well to the challenge, making crucial saves to prevent Semper Fi from finding the breakthrough.

Despite the increased attacking pressure from both teams in the second half, neither side was able to convert their chances.

The result gives AshantiGold their first point after two matches in Group B, while Semper Fi now has two points from their opening two games.

The two teams face a crucial final group match, with both needing a victory to strengthen their chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

AshantiGold will particularly be under pressure to secure all three points after failing to win either of their first two matches.

Semper Fi, meanwhile, will also know that another positive result could be important in their bid to remain in contention for qualification.
