Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed confidence in the Black Princesses after their impressive 3-1 victory over South Korea at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The win was an important response from Ghana after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Ecuador in their opening Group C match. The Black Princesses showed significant improvement against South Korea and secured all three points.
Speaking after the match, Okraku said he was not surprised by the result because he believes the players have the quality and determination to perform at the highest level.
“I’m not surprised they won, and they won convincingly,” Okraku said.
He believes the victory will give the players a major confidence boost as they prepare for their final group match.
“I believe this will give them the needed energy and confidence going into the third group game, and we are all looking forward to another good performance,” he added.
The GFA president also praised the attitude of the players and described the mood within the camp as positive.
According to him, the players are happy with the result and remain highly motivated as they continue their campaign in Poland.
“To be honest, the girls are happy. Everything is on course. They are extremely motivated,” Okraku said.
“For me, what I call natural motivation is very evident in everything they are doing, and it is something that excites me.”
The Black Princesses are competing in Group C alongside Ecuador, South Korea and France at the tournament, which is being held in Poland from September 5 to 27.
Ghana will face France in their final group game on September 12. The match will be crucial to their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.
