Former NPP General Secretary John Boadu and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko have secured the first and fourth positions, respectively, on the ballot paper for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national chairmanship election.
The positions were decided during the party’s balloting exercise ahead of the national executive elections scheduled for October 3.
John Boadu picked the number one position, while Sammy Crabbe will appear in the second position.
Former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko secured the third position, with Boakye Agyarko taking the fourth spot.
The ballot positions will determine the order in which the four candidates will appear on the ballot paper when delegates go to the polls to elect the party’s next national chairman.
The race is expected to be competitive, with all four candidates working to win the support of delegates. They are expected to focus on how they can unite the party, strengthen its structures and improve its chances in future elections.
The October 3 elections will also see the NPP elect a new set of national executives as the party works to reorganise its structures and reconnect with its grassroots.
With the ballot positions now settled, the candidates are expected to step up their campaigns and engagements with delegates across the country as they work to convince party members that they are the right choice to lead the NPP.
