You will all be recruited under our govt — NPP to unemployed teachers

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will employ all qualified teachers who are currently without jobs if the party returns to power.

Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, spokesperson for the NPP Education Policy Committee, said teachers are very important to Ghana’s education system. He said the party would make their employment a priority under a future NPP government.

“We have always believed that the teacher is the centre of our education system and would ensure that all the teachers that are sitting home who have not been employed, we would employ them.”

He also said the NPP would focus on improving teacher training and professional development. The party, he explained, would create more opportunities for teachers to grow in their careers and improve their skills.

According to Dr. Bempah Tandoh, the party would also work to bring stability to the school placement process. It would further upgrade model schools and make Category B and C schools more attractive to students and parents.

He added that a future NPP government would expand academic support programmes to help maintain improvements in students’ learning outcomes.

The party would also provide teachers with more opportunities for professional development and support community-based learning programmes as part of its plans to improve education across the country.
