The Central North Regional Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old man identified as Bismark, who was allegedly kidnapped at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
Bismark was reportedly abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026. He has since been rescued and is currently receiving medical attention, while the police continue their efforts to arrest those believed to be behind the incident.
According to reports, the suspects initially demanded GH¢45,000 from Bismark’s family and gave them 24 hours to raise the money.
The family reportedly received disturbing recordings through WhatsApp showing Bismark stripped naked, with his hands, legs and neck tied. He was also allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse.
In the recordings, Bismark could be heard begging his family to urgently find the money needed to secure his release.
The suspects allegedly used Bismark’s own mobile phone to communicate with his family on WhatsApp. This was reportedly done to hide their identities and reduce the digital evidence that could help police trace them.
The family then sought help from relatives, friends and well-wishers and managed to raise GH¢19,500, which was paid to the suspects.
However, the suspects allegedly did not release Bismark. Instead, they demanded an additional GH¢30,500, bringing the total ransom they wanted to GH¢49,500.
They reportedly gave the family another eight hours to raise the extra money and threatened to kill Bismark, burn his body and destroy his phones if the money was not paid.
The Central North Regional Police Command has since rescued Bismark and is investigating the incident to determine exactly what happened and identify and arrest the people responsible for the alleged abduction.
The Police Command says it will provide further information as the investigation continues.
