A search conducted at the location led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances concealed in sacks containing millet and maize.

The Police said preliminary investigations suggest that the suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside food crops.

The practice, according to investigators, was allegedly intended to make the narcotic farms difficult to detect and help those involved avoid law enforcement agencies.

The Police also suspect that the arrested individuals form part of a network supplying narcotic drugs to several dealers operating in different parts of the Upper East Region.

The 14 suspects are Alex Nyaaba, Charles Keleg Dombil, Zimi Pandam, Jennifer Ziini, Tobirr Naab, Yinteng James, Tosil Wandabil, Sandanane Peehim, Borimi Nohoo, Curim Teng, Curim Kugri, Nohou Dagobila and Abane Zangbeog.
