ECG announces maintenance-related power cuts

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned maintenance exercises that will result in power interruptions across parts of the Tema, Ashanti, Accra West, Central and Eastern Regions on Wednesday, July 22.

The company said the exercise forms part of efforts to improve service delivery, while its engineers continue work to address network faults affecting some customers in the Tema and Accra West Regions.

In the Tema Region, planned maintenance will affect areas including Sydal Farms, Community 24, Japan City, Teteman, Global, Addo Kope, Kasseh, Big Ada, Ada Foah, Totope, Treasure Island and Aqua Safari.

The exercise is expected to run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

ECG also disclosed that some parts of Tema are experiencing unplanned outages due to a network fault. Affected areas include TT Brothers, Zonda Trucks, Fishing Harbour, Main Harbour, GPHA Headquarters, FDA, Black Star Line Building, Junction Mall, Regimanuel Estates and surrounding communities.

In the Ashanti Region, several communities will experience outages as engineers carry out maintenance works. The affected areas include Tabre, Sepaase, Maakro, Besease, Abrafo Kokoben, Manhyia, Abuakwa, Old Tafo, Bonwire, Asokore Mampong, Mamponteng, Ejuratia, Kona, Asonomaso, Boadi, Apemso, Donyina, Nsuta, Akutreso and surrounding areas.

For the Accra West Region, planned maintenance will affect Mama’s Inn, Sahara, Bishop Deli School, King Solomon, NIC, Agape, St. Clare, Police Training School and Tesano from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ECG said customers around Gbawe Top Base are also facing an unplanned interruption caused by a transformer fault, affecting areas such as Lesson Villa, Bodoo, Ophelia Nyantechi and Shawamah.

In the Central Region, communities including Bontroase, Ojobi, Senya township, Bonsuoku, Anopasu, Breku and Fetteh township will experience outages from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Region, planned maintenance will affect Asuokaw, Mepom, Asikasu and Owurakesim from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Other affected areas in the region include Old Estate, Paradise, Country Home, Veterinary, Kenke Factory, New Lands Hospital and Daddy’s Spot, where interruptions are expected from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ECG has apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the planned outages and urged those in affected areas to make alternative arrangements while the works are ongoing.

The company assured customers that the maintenance activities are necessary to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply.
