The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inaugurated several standing committees as part of efforts to strengthen its internal structures and prepare for the 2028 general elections.
The inauguration, announced by the party leadership, was carried out in line with Article 10(2)(6a) of the party’s amended constitution.
The newly constituted committees include the Finance Committee, Electoral Affairs Committee, National Disciplinary Committee, Political Strategy and Policy Committee, Organisation Committee, Research Committee, and Communications Committee.
According to the party, the committees will play a key role in supporting the National Executive Committee and the National Council in managing the affairs of the party.
Their responsibilities will include improving internal governance, enhancing research and policy development, strengthening communication efforts, ensuring discipline among members, and promoting electoral preparedness across all levels of the party.
The NPP described the committees as an important part of its institutional framework and a major step towards rebuilding and repositioning the party for future electoral success.
In a statement, the party stressed that preparations for the 2028 elections have already begun and that it is determined to put in place the structures needed to achieve victory.
The leadership noted that winning future elections requires strong institutions, effective organisation, and a clear commitment to the party’s values and principles.
The move comes as the NPP continues to reorganise following the 2024 general elections. Political observers believe the establishment of these committees could help the party address internal challenges, improve coordination, and develop strategies for reconnecting with voters across the country.
Party officials have expressed confidence that the committees will contribute significantly to strengthening the NPP’s operations and improving its ability to respond to national and political issues.
The leadership also emphasised the need for unity among party members, saying a united and well-organised party would be better positioned to regain the confidence of Ghanaians and compete effectively in future elections.
With the inauguration of the standing committees, the NPP has signalled its intention to begin long-term preparations early as it works towards returning to power in 2028.
