Driver trapped in trailer rescued after crash on Kintampo-Tamale Highway

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully rescued a driver who became trapped within a trailer following an accident on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway.

As reported by the GNFS in a Facebook update on Sunday, August 16, the incident took place at Water Falls Junction on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The Service indicated that it received an emergency call at 4:36 p.m., which led the Municipal Commander, DOII Twum Prempeh Dominic, to send officers to the location.

An eight-member firefighting team, under the leadership of ASTNO Agyekum Emmanuel, reached the site at 4:46 p.m.

Upon arrival, the crew discovered a Shacman trailer with registration number GC 3825-19, which was loaded with packs of bottled beverages and was en route from Kumasi to Buipe, involved in the collision.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, prompting the firefighters to initiate rescue operations without delay.

The GNFS confirmed that the driver was successfully freed and transported to a medical facility for treatment, while the area was subsequently secured for the resumption of traffic.
