No documents needed for promoted teachers’ salary adjustment – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that newly promoted teachers do not need to submit application letters, promotion letters or any other documents before their salaries are adjusted to reflect their new ranks.

The clarification follows concerns raised by some promoted teachers who said they had been asked to submit various documents to facilitate the processing of their salary adjustments.

In an immediate release issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the GES explained that teachers promoted to new ranks are normally placed automatically on the appropriate salary scale based on their new positions.

The Service said the salary adjustment process does not require newly promoted teachers to submit additional documents.

“This existing practice has not changed,” the Service stated.

The GES has, therefore, directed teachers to disregard requests to submit documents for salary adjustments.

“Teachers are, therefore, to ignore the request to submit any documents for salary adjustments,” the statement said.

Management also appealed for calm as it engages the few regions and districts reportedly requesting such documents.

The GES said it remains committed to ensuring that the established process for salary adjustments following promotions is maintained.
