The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The suspects have been named as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai.
The Police said the arrests followed investigations by its Missing Persons Unit after Nana Yaw Kyere allegedly left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic and did not return.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim was allegedly lured to Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
According to the Police, both suspects subsequently confessed to their involvement in the incident.
Their accounts indicate that Philip Tefe allegedly attacked Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, leaving him injured.
The victim was later taken to another room, where he was left unattended and subsequently died.
Investigators also established that the victim’s body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to an area near the motorway on September 20.
The body was allegedly abandoned in a bush and set on fire.
Partially burnt remains were later discovered at Community 18 on September 21.
The victim’s biological mother and an uncle subsequently identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
Phone sold for GH¢100
The Police have also recovered the victim’s iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100.
The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained on suspicion of dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the alleged disposal of the victim’s body.
His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which investigators suspect was used to transport the body, has also been impounded.
The three suspects remain in Police custody and are expected to appear before the court as investigations continue.
The Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest any other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.
