My experience is my certificate, not English fluency – Wontumi defends NPP chairmanship bid

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, has defended his bid for higher leadership roles in the party, insisting that experience in politics matters more than English fluency.

According to him, leadership should be judged by results, service, and political experience, not by how well a person speaks English.

“My experience is my certificate, not English fluency,” he said, stressing that his long involvement in party activities has equipped him with the needed knowledge to lead.

He explained that he has worked closely with party members at all levels over the years and understands the concerns of grassroots supporters.

Wontumi further argued that leadership positions should not be limited to highly educated individuals or those fluent in English, but should also be open to people who have worked their way up through dedication and commitment.

“Leadership is not about grammar. It is about results and the ability to bring people together to achieve a common goal,” he added.

He maintained that his track record within the NPP speaks for itself and that he remains focused on strengthening the party ahead of future internal elections.
