The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.
The action follows the circulation of a video on social media that allegedly shows inappropriate conduct between the teacher and a student of the school.
According to a statement issued by GES, the Service became aware of the video and immediately initiated investigations into the matter.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, GES has interdicted the teacher in accordance with its rules and regulations. The Service explained that the decision will remain in force until investigators complete their work and determine the facts surrounding the case.
GES described the allegations as deeply troubling and reaffirmed its firm stance against any inappropriate relationship between teachers and students.
The Service stated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy on sexual misconduct and expects all education professionals to uphold the highest standards of ethics and conduct.
The statement also emphasised GES’s commitment to protecting students and ensuring their safety and well-being within the educational system.
It warned that authorities would take both disciplinary and legal action against anyone found responsible after the investigations conclude.
Meanwhile, officials at Bole Senior High School are expected to support the investigation process. GES assured the public that it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves and will provide further updates when necessary.
“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students,” the statement noted, adding that the Service remains committed to maintaining professionalism and safeguarding learners across the country.
