Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin says he is ready to submit himself to any investigation into allegations of extortion levelled against him by GoldBod Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.
Speaking during Parliament’s emergency recall sitting on Monday, August 24, 2026, Afenyo-Markin challenged anyone who believes he committed an offence to report the matter to the Police, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) or any other competent investigative body.
“If they muster the courage to report that I have extorted from them and I am invited, I shall submit myself to every investigation so that eventually my name is cleared,” he said.
Afenyo-Markin said he has already taken legal steps against some individuals and media organisations over the allegations, disclosing that two separate cases have been filed.
The first case, GT 1029/2026, was filed at the Accra High Court against Samuel Adu-Gyamfi and Multimedia Group Limited.
The second, GR/ACH/CC/C5/02/2026, was filed at the Achimota Circuit Court against Eric Agjei and Peace FM.
The Minority Leader said he was confident the courts would determine the matters fairly, describing his decision to subject himself to the legal process as taking the “high moral ground.”
He also cautioned political actors against making allegations that cross what he described as acceptable limits.
“There is a limit to political discourse. There are lines that must not be crossed, and these red lines, once crossed, they must be dealt with,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin further defended his record as Minority Leader, insisting that he has served Parliament with integrity and remained committed to his responsibilities.
“I have served in this position with integrity,” he said.
