A combined military and police unit arrested 11 individuals and confiscated a pump-action firearm, ammunition, and various security-related items during an intelligence-driven operation at Kromase, located near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.
The operation, spearheaded by the Combat Team Commander, Major Muktar Saani, took place in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
As stated in a Facebook post on Thursday, August 27, by the Ghana Armed Forces, the security team executed the cordon and search operation as part of their efforts to identify and disrupt activities that could pose a threat to peace and security in the region.
The individuals arrested include Benjamin Nyame, 41; Kofi Sakyi, 60; James Yentumi, 70; Donkor Benyingi, 49; Kofi Ofori, 56; Kwasi Christian, 47; Kelvin Agyei, 31; Kwame Asare Yentumi, 35; Mensah Nyimfor, 55; Geoffrey Okuigye, 53; Nelson Kolali, 17; and another individual known as Ntrubo.

Items seized from the premises occupied by some of the suspects include a black pump-action gun, 21 live AAA cartridges, two live BB cartridges, a brown body armour, a locally manufactured ammunition belt, and a police uniform.
The suspects, along with the recovered items, have been transported to the operational base, where they are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
This security operation is part of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing security and preserving peace in the Nkwanta area.
