The Cambodian government has issued a warning to African nationals residing in the country, including citizens from Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, and Uganda, advising them to depart before May 31, 2026.
In an official notice shared by the General Department of Immigration, which operates under the Ministry of Interior, officials indicated that the waiver currently extended to African nationals will conclude on that date.
As per the announcement, any foreign national discovered in Cambodia after June 1, 2026, due to overstaying will be apprehended either at the airport or at any location within the nation.
The statement further noted that violators may face a maximum of two years imprisonment and will also be obligated to pay an $8,000 fine prior to being permitted to exit Cambodia.
Authorities additionally cautioned that law enforcement will commence searches for overstayers in various hideouts throughout the country beginning June 1.
