The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has dismissed reports circulating on social media that former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot during an incident at the church’s property in Kwabenya, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on June 25, 2026, the Mission said the incident occurred after Adwoa Safo allegedly drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the church premises following an event held at the location.
According to the church, the vehicle struck two metallic gates, causing substantial damage and creating a dangerous situation for worshippers and guests who were gathered inside the compound.
The church explained that several people were seated close to the entrance at the time and that the incident posed a serious risk to lives and property.
“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading. To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the statement said.
According to the Mission, security personnel on duty intervened to prevent further escalation and to protect worshippers and guests attending the programme.
The church maintained that the actions of its security team were intended to ensure public safety and prevent any harm to those present.
The Mission also rejected allegations that Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, insisting that information available to the church does not support such claims.
The church further expressed concern about what it described as the spread of unverified information on social media and urged the public to exercise restraint while investigations continue.
“We urge the public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified reports and allow the appropriate authorities to establish the facts,” the Mission stated.
The leadership of Kristo Asafo called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial and professional investigation into the incident to determine exactly what transpired.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ghana Police Service. Police have since arrested a number of suspects, including private security personnel and other individuals, as part of efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the confrontation at the Kwabenya property.
