The Ghana Police Service has suspended an inspector posted to the Asuoyeboah Police Station over his alleged role in a robbery attack on a mobile money (MOMO) vendor in Kumasi.

The officer, identified as Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, was arrested by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit after an intelligence-led operation carried out by the police.

In a statement released on Monday, May 11, 2026, the police said officers searched the suspect’s home and found a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, some ammunition, and GH¢9,835 in cash.

Police authorities have since interdicted Inspector Dankwah while investigations into the alleged robbery continue.

He appeared before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday, 11 May 2026, where the court remanded him into police custody.

He is scheduled to return to court on 29 May 2026.

The Police Service said it is still investigating the case to determine the full details surrounding the alleged incident.
