Builsa North Member of Parliament (MP), James Agalga, has been appointed the new Majority Leader in Parliament following a ministerial reshuffle announced by President John Dramani Mahama.
Reports indicate that Mr Agalga takes over from Mahama Ayariga, who has been nominated by President Mahama as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs-designate.
As part of the changes, President Mahama has also nominated Works, Housing and Water Resources Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei as Defence Minister-designate.
The Presidency said Mr Adjei has been reassigned to the Defence Ministry, with the changes submitted to Parliament through the Speaker in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
Meanwhile, Banda MP Ahmed Ibrahim has been reassigned from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The President has also nominated Klottey Korle MP Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation-designate.
All the nominations are subject to approval by Parliament.
