The Court of Appeal has acquitted and discharged former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe, thereby overturning her conviction by the High Court.
This latest development nullifies the previous judgment that had determined Ms. Tamakloe guilty of inflicting financial loss on the state and other associated offences.
The ruling from the Court of Appeal effectively absolves the former MASLOC CEO of the charges for which she had been found guilty and sentenced.
It will be recalled that the U.S. Embassy in Ghana on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, announced the extradition of Sedina Tamakloe Attionu to Ghana after her conviction on over 70 charges related to corruption.
Sedina was found guilty of crimes that included the embezzlement of more than US$6 million in Ghanaian taxpayer funds.
Subsequently, the Accra High Court in 2024 convicted her in absentia and sentenced her to 10 years in prison after determining her guilt on multiple charges, including causing financial loss to the state and theft.
Her return to Ghana follows an extensive extradition process that began after she did not return to the country following a medical trip to the United States.
