Wenchi Traditional Council suspends Twafohene indefinitely

The Wenchi Traditional Council in the Bono Region has indefinitely suspended Nana Akora Tua Adutwum Kyeremeh Siasaa Kufour IV, the Twafohene of the Wenchi Traditional Area.

The decision was announced by Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area and President of the Traditional Council, during a council meeting held in Wenchi.

As part of the decision, the Council has also overturned the Twafo stool to allow for investigations into alleged breaches of traditional authority involving Nana Kufour IV.

According to Osagyefo Tabrako III, the allegations against the suspended sub-chief include matters concerning land. However, the Council did not provide further details about the specific allegations or the circumstances surrounding them.

The Paramount Chief directed members of the public and the media not to recognise or engage Nana Kufour IV in his capacity as a sub-chief of the Wenchi Traditional Council while the suspension remains in force.
He further instructed Nana Kufour IV to stop presenting himself as a sub-chief and to refrain from using the traditional title until the investigations are completed and a decision is reached.

The Council warned that any failure by the suspended Twafohene to comply with the directives could result in additional sanctions.
The suspension is expected to remain in place indefinitely until the Traditional Council concludes its investigations and determines the appropriate action.

The development places the allegations against Nana Kufour IV under the authority of the Wenchi Traditional Council, which is expected to establish the facts surrounding the reported breaches before taking further steps.

The Council has not indicated how long the investigation will take or whether Nana Kufour IV will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations before a final decision is made.
