Economic situation will determine how Ghanaians vote — Dennis Miracles

NPP National Communications Director Dennis Miracles Aboagye says the economic conditions facing ordinary Ghanaians will be a major factor in determining how they vote in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, voters are increasingly focused on how government policies affect their daily lives rather than simply voting based on political party colours.

Mr Aboagye said the economic realities citizens face at the time of the election will shape their choices at the ballot box.

He stressed that issues such as the cost of living, employment, transport and access to basic services would matter to voters when they decide which political party or candidate to support.

His comments align with his earlier argument that voters assess political parties based on the challenges they face at the time of the election.

Mr Aboagye has also argued that improvements in headline economic indicators would have limited political impact if ordinary citizens do not feel the benefits in their pockets.

“The teacher is going to cast his vote based on what he thinks will benefit him. The nurse, the architect, the trotro driver, the taxi driver, all these people, they are going to get up in the morning to go and cast their vote, not because of the colours,” he said.

Mr Aboagye maintained that the political parties would therefore have to convince Ghanaians that their policies and proposed solutions could improve their livelihoods.
