A pastor has been arrested in connection with the purported attempt to bury a five-month-old infant alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect in question, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who serves as the Head Pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was taken into custody following the incident that has left the local community in shock.

Reports suggest that the pastor and an accomplice were seen at a refuse dump around 11 p.m. under suspicious circumstances with the infant.

An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, stated that he intervened upon observing unusual behaviour and found that the child was still alive and seemed to be on the brink of being buried.

He raised an alarm, and prompt action helped avert what could have escalated into a tragic event.

Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, confirmed that the suspect had previously informed him that the child was deceased, which led to discussions regarding burial arrangements.

However, he indicated that he was not aware that the baby was still alive at that moment.

The baby girl is currently receiving care at a government hospital.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has since detained the suspect and his accomplice, who are currently aiding in the ongoing investigations.
