The Ghana Education Trust Fund has released GH¢199.47 million to settle outstanding arrears owed to suppliers of perishable goods under the Free Senior High School (FSHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
The disbursement, made through three separate cheques, is intended to cover unpaid claims for food items supplied to second-cycle institutions over recent months.
The payments address arrears accumulated between October 2025 and February 2026 for Free SHS, and October to December 2025 for TVET institutions.
The release of funds is expected to bring relief to suppliers who have faced prolonged delays in payments, a situation that has raised concerns about the sustainability of food supply to schools.
Industry players had warned that continued delays could disrupt feeding arrangements in educational institutions across the country.
By clearing a significant portion of the arrears, the intervention aims to restore confidence among vendors and ensure uninterrupted meals for students under the government’s flagship education programmes.
