Veteran Ghanaian actor and broadcaster Kwame Dzokoto has refuted reports of his death, confirming that he is alive but currently facing some health challenges.
Speaking on B.E. TV, the Efiewura star disclosed that his health has become a concern in recent times, but emphasized that he is recovering and appealed to the public to disregard reports suggesting that he had died.
“I’m not dead,” Kwame Dzokoto said, adding that he has been dealing with conditions including high blood pressure and diabetes.
The actor, who is known for his role in the popular television series Efiewura and currently features in Osumesi, revealed that he underwent surgery outside the country with support from President Ibrahim Mahama.
He said he has been feeling better since the procedure and noted that some of the health difficulties he is experiencing may also be linked to the realities of ageing.
Kwame Dzokoto is recognised not only for his acting career but also for his work in radio and television, as well as his involvement in politics. He explained that his career has progressed from presentation into management, although radio remains especially dear to him.
“I love doing radio,” he said, noting that radio allows presenters to develop a special connection with their audiences because listeners generally cannot see their physical movements or mannerisms.
According to him, audiences value his presentation style, which motivates him to keep developing new ideas that will hold listeners’ attention.
“When I’m on air, psychologically, I feel I’m the only one they are listening to,” he said.
Kwame Dzokoto also reflected on his background, revealing that his father is Ewe while his mother is Fante. He was raised largely by his mother in a fishing community in Sekondi.
Outside his professional life, the actor said he believes maintaining a free mind and sincerely serving others can lead to unexpected opportunities.
He maintained that people who live and serve others with a free mind can gain their love and respect, adding that God can create special opportunities for such individuals.
For now, Kwame Dzokoto says he is recovering and remains thankful to everyone who has expressed concern about his wellbeing.
“I’m not dead,” he reiterated.
