North Industrial Area hit by early morning fire

A fire outbreak has caused panic at the North Industrial Area in Accra after a blaze broke out in the early hours of Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. It is also unclear how much damage has been caused or whether anyone has been injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire grew quickly after it was first spotted. Residents reportedly struggled to control the situation because they did not have the equipment needed to fight the flames.

“We do not know what really caused the fire. All we realised is that the fire is burning from up there. We do not have anyone to help, so the fire has escalated,” an eyewitness said.

The Ghana National Fire Service later arrived at the scene to help put out the fire.

However, an eyewitness said the firefighters had difficulty reaching the affected area because some residents were allegedly blocking their way.

The eyewitness appealed to residents to make way for the firefighters so they could get to the affected area and begin fighting the fire.

“Fire Service came to help, yet the residents want to fight them. They should just pave the way for them to pass through, but they are refusing. That is what will happen,” the eyewitness said.
