Ghana’s Black Stars have suffered a fresh setback ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Baba Rahman, Alidu Seidu and Antoine Semenyo withdrawing from the squad.
The three players were expected to feature in Ghana’s upcoming qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, but their unavailability has left head coach Carlos Queiroz with further selection concerns.
Alidu Seidu’s withdrawal comes shortly after he was recalled to the squad. The OGC Nice defender was among nine players added by Queiroz on Monday, September 21, following medical concerns involving some of the players initially selected.
His subsequent withdrawal means the Black Stars have lost a player who was brought in specifically to provide additional defensive options.
Baba Rahman and Antoine Semenyo have also pulled out of the squad, although the reasons for their withdrawals have not been fully detailed in the latest reports.
The latest developments add to a growing list of availability concerns for Ghana ahead of a crucial qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on Thursday, September 24, before hosting The Gambia in Accra on September 29.
Ghana will then play Morocco in an international friendly on October 4 as part of the team’s busy September-October schedule.
