Medeama begins title defence against Vision FC as Heart of Lions chase first win

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League continues on Saturday, September 19, with defending champions Medeama SC beginning their title defence against Vision FC, while Heart of Lions host Swedru All Blacks FC in Kpando.

At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town, Vision FC will welcome Medeama, hoping to return to winning ways after suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

Vision had won their opening match before a 3-1 away loss to newly promoted FC Ashantigold 04. The Tema-based side will now look to home advantage as they seek their first back-to-back home wins since earning promotion to the top flight for the 2024/25 season.

Medeama, meanwhile, return to domestic competition after their CAF Champions League campaign ended in the qualification stage after losing to TP Mazembe.

The Mauve and Yellow have two league matches in hand and will open their title defence on the road. Their strong away form from last season could encourage, having recorded five wins, seven draws and five defeats in 17 away matches.

Medeama’s previous two league visits to Vision have produced one victory and one defeat.

At the Kpando Stadium, Heart of Lions will be searching for their first win of the season when they take on Swedru All Blacks FC.

Lions have collected no victories from their opening two matches, including a 2-1 defeat against Asante Kotoko.

However, they have been difficult to beat at home, going unbeaten in their last three league games in Kpando, with two wins and a draw without conceding.

Swedru All Blacks arrive with renewed confidence after beating Debibi United FC 1-0 last weekend. The Black Magicians will be aiming for successive victories, although their previous visit to Kpando ended in a 1-0 defeat.
