Black Maidens captain Seidatu Wahab says Ghana is ready to begin its WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup campaign with victory as the team targets a successful defence of its title.
Ghana will face Burkina Faso in their opening game, with Wahab confident that the team’s preparation has put them in a strong position to compete for the trophy.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, the captain said the players are fully focused on retaining the title they won in the previous edition.
“We the Black Maidens are here to defend the trophy as my coach said, so we have a positive mind of winning tomorrow’s game,” Wahab said.
The young midfielder also expressed confidence in the quality and readiness of her teammates after their preparations for the tournament.
According to Wahab, the team has been working together since the qualifiers and believes the training has made the players stronger ahead of the competition.
“With the training we have had since our qualifiers, we say we are strong and ready for this tournament,” she added.
Wahab further backed her teammates to deliver on the pitch, stressing that the players understand their strengths and what is expected of them.
“And also, I believe in my teammates. We know what we can do, that’s why we are here,” she said.
Ghana enters the tournament as defending champions and will be hoping to start the competition on a positive note against Burkina Faso today.
