The IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested seven people in separate intelligence-led operations targeting suspected narcotics activities in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim following information gathered by the police about suspected drug-related activities in the three areas.
At Ejisu, the police arrested 43-year-old Nana Kwadwo Adu and 48-year-old Nana Kwame Fella. Four others were arrested at Abrepo Junction.
They are 23-year-old Stephanie Anokye, 20-year-old Roland Anokye, 30-year-old Gideon Owusu and 27-year-old Grace Fosua.
At Atimatim, the police targeted 27-year-old Kofi Opoku, who was suspected of involvement in the sale of narcotic substances. According to the police, Opoku had allegedly avoided arrest on previous occasions.
The operations led to the recovery of several substances and items suspected to be illegal drugs. These included pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, as well as quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg.
The police also seized 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol suspected to be unregistered drugs. An unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency was also recovered during the operations.
The seven suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing inquiry.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the investigations are aimed at establishing the source of the suspected drugs and determining the full extent of the suspects’ involvement.
The police are also working to identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged activities.
The Command has appealed to the public to continue providing credible information to assist the police in the fight against illegal drug activities and other crimes.
The police said further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
