Asare-Bediako withdraws from NPP communications race, backs Miracles Aboagye

National Communications Director aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gordon Asare-Bediako, has withdrawn from the race and endorsed Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

Asare-Bediako announced his decision in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 23, 2026, explaining that it followed consultations with his family, friends and various stakeholders within the party.

He said the decision was based on what he believes is in the best interest of the NPP at what he described as a defining moment for the party.

According to him, his decision to contest the position was driven by a desire to help rebuild the party’s communication structures and position the NPP for a return to power.

However, he said further reflection had convinced him that unity within the party was more important than individual ambitions.

Asare-Bediako therefore announced his “full and unreserved support” for Miracles Aboagye and called on his supporters and delegates who had backed his campaign to transfer their support to him.

He described Miracles Aboagye as a “battle-tested” communicator with strong communication skills, strategic experience and a record of frontline advocacy for the NPP.

Asare-Bediako expressed confidence that Miracles would strengthen the party’s communication efforts if elected.

“I have no doubt that under his leadership, the NPP’s communication front will be sharper, louder, and more effective than ever before,” he said.

Miracles Aboagye previously served as spokesperson and Communications Director for the 2024 presidential campaign of NPP flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia.

Asare-Bediako said the party’s broader objective should take priority over personal political ambitions, particularly as the NPP seeks to reorganise itself and regain power.

He urged delegates to consider the collective interest of the party and support his preferred candidate.

“Our mission is bigger than any individual ambition: it is the retrieval of power for the New Patriotic Party and the restoration of hope for the good people of Ghana,” he said.
