Accra floods: I lost everything — Miracles Aboagye

The Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2028 presidential campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has shared the painful experience of losing almost everything in his home after the recent floods.

Speaking during an interview on Saturday, July 4, Mr. Aboagye said the flooding caused extensive damage to his home, leaving his family with no choice but to start over.

“I lost everything, and I have nothing in my house. The house is empty, and we need to start everything again,” he said.

He explained that the floodwaters were so powerful that they broke through the main gate of his house, highlighting the force of the flooding.

“As a matter of fact, the water broke the main gate, and if the water was able to break the main gate, it should tell you the strength of the water,” he stated.

His comments come after the recent heavy rains that caused widespread flooding in many parts of Accra and other communities.

The floods submerged homes, businesses, roads and public infrastructure, displaced residents, disrupted transportation, damaged properties and triggered emergency rescue operations by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service.

Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage while distributing relief items to affected communities.
