GFA warns against unauthorised FIFA World Cup ticket packages

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a public warning to football fans and stakeholders following concerns raised by FIFA over the activities of a company allegedly promoting and selling unauthorised FIFA World Cup 2026 packages in Ghana.

According to the GFA, FIFA has formally notified the Association through its legal representatives about the activities of a company operating under the name Match Experience Hospitality (MEH), located at Labone Crescent in Accra.

FIFA alleges that the company has been advertising and selling World Cup 2026 ticketing, hospitality and travel packages without receiving any official authorisation, accreditation or endorsement from the world football governing body.

In its communication to the GFA, FIFA stressed that Match Experience Hospitality is not an authorised FIFA ticketing or hospitality partner and has not been granted any rights connected to the commercial, marketing or intellectual property framework of the FIFA World Cup.

As a result, the GFA is advising football supporters and the general public to exercise extreme caution when dealing with the company or any related platforms offering World Cup packages.

“The public is strongly advised that any engagement or financial transaction with the said entity is done strictly at their own risk,” the GFA said.

FIFA further noted that the company’s activities may amount to ambush marketing, a practice that can mislead consumers, sponsors and stakeholders while undermining FIFA’s official commercial programmes.

The world football governing body has already taken steps to address the issue. These include filing a petition with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter. FIFA has also issued public disclaimers to alert football fans and potential customers.

The GFA said it was acting on FIFA’s request to bring the issue to the attention of the public, encourage supporters to use only official FIFA ticketing and hospitality channels, and help prevent potential fraud.

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of football in Ghana and safeguarding supporters from unauthorised commercial activities linked to FIFA competitions.

The GFA added that it will continue to work closely with FIFA and the relevant authorities to ensure the matter is properly investigated and addressed in the interest of the Ghanaian football community.
