“There will be a lot of pressure on Semenyo going to the World Cup. People back home have questions about his performance when it comes to the national team, but as a former player and a striker, I have to be in his shoes,” Gyan said.

Semenyo has grown into one of Ghana’s most important players in recent years. His rise in European football has increased expectations among supporters, many of whom hope he can lead the Black Stars to a successful campaign at the World Cup.

Gyan noted that playing for a top club naturally brings added pressure whenever a player returns to represent his country. According to him, fans often expect such players to dominate matches and deliver results immediately.

“There will be a bit of pressure because of where he’s playing now,” Gyan explained. “When you’re playing for one of the best teams in the world and you come into the national team, there will be a lot of expectations.”

The former Sunderland and Al Ain striker added that Semenyo has become the symbol of Ghana football because of his achievements and growing reputation on the international stage.

“He’s the face of Ghana football right now because of his position and what he has done for himself,” Gyan said. “Everything is going to depend on Antoine Semenyo for this World Cup.” He stated while speaking on Sky Sports.

Ghana will head into the tournament hoping to improve on previous World Cup performances and make a strong impact on the global stage.

Much of that ambition is expected to rest on the shoulders of Semenyo, who will be tasked with leading the team’s attack and inspiring a new generation of Black Stars supporters.
