N/R: ‘Pharmacist’ arrested over suspected illicit drugs

A 33-year-old man has been arrested, and multiple boxes of suspected illegal drugs have been confiscated following an anti-drug operation conducted by the Northern Regional Police Special Operations Team, referred to as Red Maria, in Tamale.

The individual, Abdul Manan, was taken into custody at an over-the-counter pharmacy located in Zujung, based on intelligence collected by the team.

A subsequent search of both his shop and residence resulted in the recovery of the drugs.

The items seized included 32 boxes of 50mg Tramadol, one box of 250mg Tramadol, one sachet of 120mg Royal Tramadol, one sachet of 100mg Tramadol, nine boxes of 32mg Astradol-P, and 24 bottles of Koffex.

All items have been retained for evidential purposes.

The operation was executed by a 44-member team led by Chief Inspector Abu Issahaku as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the metropolis.

“The Northern Regional Police Command remains committed to fighting drug peddling and related crimes in the region. We will continue to carry out intelligence-led operations to ensure the safety and security of the public,” the Command stated.

Abdul Manan is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.
